Ohio Voices: The Voice of May

Each year, the National Council of Teachers of English works with its affiliates to recognize members for outstanding work in the field of education. This year, Dr. Connie Zitlow will be recognized as OCTELA’s recipient of the NCTE Affiliate Intellectual Freedom Award. Zitlow will also be considered for the national counterpart to this award. As its title indicates, the Intellectual Freedom Award honors those who advance the cause of intellectual freedom. As shown in the following testimony, written by Sarah Ressler Wright and submitted to NCTE, Zitlow strives to ensure that others–including both students and teachers–can seek and receive information freely.
