Announcement: NCTE Awards and Other Information

KENT WILLIAMSON FELLOWSHIP:

NCTE is accepting applications for the KENT WILLIAMSON FELLOWSHIP. This annual fellowship is awarded to an NCTE member selected to spend six weeks in the Washington, DC office to apply his or her ideas and experience to education policy work. The selected fellow will meet with staff members in the Department of Education and in the House and Senate, advise NCTE Policy Analysts, write blog entries for the NCTE website, and connect with NCTE current and potential literacy and advocacy initiatives. NCTE PROMISING YOUNG WRITERS:

Middle school teachers are encouraged to submit 8th grade work to the NCTE Promising Young Writers Awards. The deadline is February 24th. More information can be found here: http://www.ncte.org/awards/student/pyw


THE NATIONAL AFRICAN AMERICAN READ-IN:
